Businesses that would like to be involved in the contracting and procurement process with Richland County governments and agencies can learn about opportunities at an educational session on Thursday.

The 2020 Office of Small Business Opportunity Business Academy: Procurement Resource Summit will include a panel discussion on potential contracting opportunities with the county. Representatives from Richland County, the city of Columbia, Richland School Districts One and Two, Columbia Metropolitan Airport and the University of South Carolina will answer questions.

Attendees can learn how they can become vendors with participating agencies and learn what goods and services are needed. They also can learn the process to apply for procurement services.

“Business owners networking with each other, and some potential clients and customers, is a great first step toward business growth in the new year,” Christine Keeler, director of government and community services for Richland County, said in a news release.

The summit will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Richland Library’s main branch at 1431 Assembly St. It is part of the Engage Richland series, which encourages residents to learn more about how local government operates.
