Richland County Library has named Bayne Dangerfied, owner of Soda City Sewing, its first entrepreneur-in-residence.

Dangerfield is the owner of Soda City Sewing, an embroidery and sewing company in Columbia which she launched Soda City Sewing in 2012. The company provides personalized children’s clothing that helps customers celebrate special occasions, according to a news release.

Dangerfield started her business on Etsy and later expanded to her own website and an Amazon store.

She will hold weekly office hours at the Richland Library’s main branch at 1431 Assembly St, answering questions and sharing knowledge about business and self-employment. One-on-one appointments, which are each about 30 minutes, are available from 6-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Dangerfield, who will be in residence through June 30, will also work with the library’s Studio Services Department and its Business, Careers and Research Center.

The entrepreneur-in-residence program is part an effort to “remove barriers and level the playing field for diverse entrepreneurs” the library began after it was awarded a $50,000 grant in 2018 as part of the Google Impact Challenge, according to the release.
