Richland Library offering mobile self-checkout

A new, mobile self-checkout service is available to Richland Library customers at all 13 locations.

Items can be checked out by scanning a QR code or clicking the mobile self-checkout option in users’ library accounts. After allowing access to their phone cameras, customers can scan or type the barcode of the item being checked out.

The process is complete when a due date appears on the screen along with the title of the item.

“We're adapting to new customer behaviors and developing features that enhance the overall experience across our library system,” Phillip Higgins, director of marketing and digital strategy, said in a news release. “Mobile self-checkout gives our customers a contactless option to quickly check out their items, bypassing any lines and making the most of their time with us.”
