A board-certified art therapist is Richland Library’s new artist in residence.
Mary How brings more than 20 years of experience helping people deal with emotional trauma through art and creativity. She has a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology from Columbia College and a master’s degree in art therapy from Vermont College of Norwich University.
How, who uses of combination of cognitive restructuring, mindfulness and art in her coaching and skills courses, will offer art and mindfulness classes and workshops. She will work with Richland Library staff to create free community resources during her term as artist in residence, which runs through June.
Created in 2015, the residency program aims to connect local working artists, entrepreneurs and writers with the Midlands community.
