Richland County School District Two is one of three new partners to join with TransformSC. The program is an initiative of the S.C. Council on Competitiveness to help make changes to the state’s public education system.

The two other partners are the Pickens County Career and Technology Center and the S.C. Whitmore School. With the additions, TransformSC now partners with seven school districts and 67 individual schools around the state.

Baron Davis, superintendent of Richland School District Two, called the partnership a natural fit.

“Richland Two is committed to providing students with innovative, rigorous and robust educational experiences that focus on knowledge as well as life and career skills,” Davis said in a news release. “We take pride in being a member district committed to taking an innovative approach to transform education in South Carolina.”

Pickens County Career and Technology center is the first of its kind to join TransformSC. Ken Hitchcock, director of Pickens County Career and Technology Center, said in a release that the goal of the partnership is to produce a high-quality future workforce for Pickens County and the Upstate.

S.C. Whitmore School is an online school. Principal John Loveday said in a release that the partnership allows students to graduate high school earlier to begin college and careers or take the time needed to catch up in certain subjects.
