SCDNR offering weekly environmental programs

Each Tuesday, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will host interactive online programs exploring various wildlife and environmental topics. The half-hour programs will feature hands-on activities.

Each Tuesday throughout the summer, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will host an interactive virtual program featuring various wildlife and environmental topics.

The programs, which begin at 10 a.m., will last about 30 minutes and feature hands-on activities using basic craft supplies, according to a news release from SCDNR. Program participants will have an opportunity to ask questions in real time, and recordings will be available.

The series begins Tuesday with “All About Invertebrates,” a discussion which will focus on spider crabs and use an egg carton. Other topics include “Super Squid” and “Shark Senses.”

Registration links are available for each program, and confirmation emails will contain more detailed instructions.

The programs are:

• June 23: Discover Fish 
• June 30: What is an Estuary? 
• July 7: Super Squid 
• July 14: Shark Senses 
• July 21: Diamondback Terrapins 
• July 28: Shorebirds
