United Way of the Midlands announces 2023-2024 Board of Directors

As United Way of the Midlands’ new campaign season commences, the organization welcomes its new members and executive committee of the 2023-2024 Board of Directors.

New members of the board are: Katy Bair, Credit Team Leader and Senior Vice President at Truist; Jennifer Gugliotti, AVP and Head of Corporate Brand and Reputation at UNUM; Angela Jenkins, Vice President at Prisma Health; Ben Rex, CEO at Cyberwoven; Richard Slater, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Southeastern Freight Lines, Inc.; and Deonna Wylie, Realtor at DW Empires of Excel Real Estate.

“We are excited to welcome these leaders to our board to assist us in creating generational change by meeting immediate needs, breaking cycles of crisis and empowering people to build their own paths to success,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.

Scott Graves, Private Business Division President at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, will serve as this year’s Board Chair.

“Serving as chairperson of the board of United Way of the Midlands is an honor and a privilege,” said Scott Graves, President of BlueCross BlueShield Division. “United Way provides support when and where it is needed most which helps make our communities stronger and healthier. This commitment to create generational change will help advance our community’s well-being.”

Brittany Owen, Principal at Elliott Davis, LLC, will serve as Vice Chair and Nominating and Governance Committee Chair. Kevin Lindler, Senior Vice President and Regional Business Executive at First Citizens Bank, will serve as Secretary/Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair.

“Our Board members are committed to serving and creating actionable plans to positively impact the Midlands community,” said Fawcett.

Rounding out the Executive Committee are: Tim Arnold, Human Resources & Compensation Committee Chair; Roslyn Clark Artis, J.D., Ed.D., Immediate Past Chair; Katy Bair, Campaign Committee Co-Chair; Tanya Butts, Audit Chair; Baron R. Davis, Ph.D., Racial, Equity & Inclusion Chair; Calvin H. Elam, Campaign for Good Co-Chair; J.R. Green, Ph.D., Campaign Co-Chair; Liz McCary, Communications Chair; Nicole B. Scott, Community Impact Committee Chair; and Thomas Tafel, Education Council Chair.
