Cayce, SC – Youth Corps, the Midlands premier youth leadership development program, is pleased to announce the appointment of Caryn Pumphrey as its new Executive Director.

Pumphrey has nearly 20 years experience in local nonprofit philanthropy and management. She holds a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and a Masters in Arts Administration from Florida State University. She began her career with the Cultural Council of Richland & Lexington Counties and has also been a part of teams at Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands, the University of South Carolina, Edventure Children’s Museum, and, most recently, The Free Medical Clinic. Pumphrey is “excited to help elevate the work and impact of Youth Corps. As a parent, I understand some of the challenges many of our youth are facing and the need for quality youth development and leadership programs. What really sets Youth Corps apart is the experiential learning aspect and gives our students real world experience in areas of crime & justice, philanthropy & non-profits, legislation & government, business & economics, finance, and workforce & educational development, as well as soft skills development. As YC approaches our 20th year of service to our students, our alumni, and the community, we look forward to growing the program to impact even more students and their life, career, and educational goals.”

Austin McVay, Board Chair says “We are thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director for Youth Corps, Caryn Pumphrey, to our team. With her passion and leadership, we are confident that we will continue to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
