Nonprofit summit to address racial equity
Hundreds of state nonprofit leaders will gather with national and regional experts to address issues related to race in Columbia March 4-6. The summit is part of an annual gathering hosted by state nonprofit advocacy group Together SC.
Foundation awards $8.8M during first half of fiscal year
The Central Carolina Community Foundation has awarded 1,012 grants and scholarships in its 11-county area, as well as throughout South Carolina and the nation. That includes more than $450,000 in scholarships to 196 students.

The Central Carolina Community Foundation is accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year for more than $500,000 in available scholarships. Since 1998, the nonprofit has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships.

Midlands nonprofits receive $113,000 in grants
The Cayce Arts District will use a $63,000 grant to create a downtown arts district, while the Central Midlands Justice Ministry MORE Justice project will use a $50,000 grant to train grassroots leaders.
Lackey named 2019 Humanitarian of the Year
Pamela Lackey, former president of AT&T South Carolina, received the honor from the United Way of the Midlands. Lackey's career included 20-plus years in telecommunications as well as roles in state education.
York County tops Children’s Trust child well-being profiles
The annual profiles provide state and community groups with data to develop programs combating adverse childhood experiences. It measures 16 indicators which evaluate economic well-being, education, health and family and community.
Leadership Lexington raises $75,000 for veterans’ pavilion
A dedication ceremony for the pavilion will be held Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Central Midlands Transitional Retreat on Duffie Drive in Lexington. CMTR is a transitional housing facility for veterans which provides education and training.
On the Table community conversation set for Tuesday
On the Table, hosted by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, brings people of the Midlands together for a meal and discussion on predetermined topics intended to improve community relations.
Midlands Gives donations now accepted year round
Donations to participating nonprofits in the Midlands Gives annual community giving challenge will now be accepted online year round. Giving eCards are also available, the Central Carolina Community Foundation announced.
