Local Mexican street food restaurant opens second Columbia area location

A Mexican street food restaurant has opened in Rosewood, marking the latest addition from a Columbia area restaurant group.

Masa Mexican Street Food recently opened at 2811A Rosewood Drive. Operating since 2020, Masa’s first restaurant in Camden, quickly garnered success, paving the way for this expansion, a news release stated.

Established by Alfonso Bravo, Amalia Macias, Christian Macias, and Gerardo Gomez, Masa’s new location will be the latest addition to the sister restaurants, according to the release. This expansion follows the success of restaurants Salud Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Lounge in Camden, Coa Agaveria Y Cocina in Columbia and Masa Mexican Street Food in Camden.

Masa draws culinary inspiration from Oaxaca and Jalisco, Mexico, shaping a menu that revolves around the versatility of masa with a street food influence, the release stated. Classic Mexican dishes such as tacos, quesadillas, fresh tortillas, tamales, huaraches, and molotes are elevated with authentic flavor combinations and the use of freshly prepared in-house masa.

In addition to these traditional favorites, Masa’s expanded menu now features new items like corn ribs and tortas, according to the release. Beyond its dishes, Masa boasts an extensive expertise in agave spirits, offering a diverse selection for patrons. While the Camden location operates as a counter-serve restaurant with a full-service bar, the Rosewood location is set to offer a full-service experience, with bar, booth, and table dining available, the release stated.
