2024 South Carolina James Beard Awards’ semifinalists named

And the semifinalist nominations for national recognition are in.

The James Beard Foundation announced its list of semifinalists for the 2024 restaurant and chef awards.

Nominees will be announced on Wednesday, April 3, and winners will be announced at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 10, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Outstanding Restaurateur

Emerging Chef

Best New Restaurant

Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker

  • Tania Cienfuegos Harris, Topsoil Kitchen & Market, Travelers Rest
  • Remy Funfrock, La Pâtisserie, Charleston

Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program

  • Lula Drake Wine Parlour, Columbia

Outstanding Bar

  • Edmund’s Oast, Charleston

Best Chef: Southeast (Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia)

  • Kitwanda “Kiki” and Tyrone Cyrus, Kiki’s Chicken and Waffles, Columbia
  • Jacques Larson, The Obstinate Daughter, Sullivan’s Island
  • James London, Chubby Fish, Charleston
  • Robbie Robinson, City Limits Barbeque, West Columbia

The 2024 restaurant and chef semifinalists are recognized across 22 categories.

Established in 1990 and first awarded in 1991, the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards are one of five separate recognition programs of the James Beard Awards. The awards recognize exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, media and broader food system.
