Texas-based medical device provider US Med-Equip has opened an office in Columbia as part of a Southeastern expansion. The company plans to invest $50 million in the region during the next five years, according to a news release from US Med-Equip.

The expansion includes new offices in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Fla., Columbia and Richmond, Va. US Med-Equip recently opened offices in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville and Pensacola, Fla. The company says the new branches will help get its products into hospitals more quickly, as the demand for movable medical equipment is at a record high.

The Columbia office is located in Suite 110 at 100 Northeast Drive.

US Med-Equip provides more than 37,000 movable medical devices available for medical facilities to rent for neonatal or infusion care. Demand for the devices can increase when there is a disaster such as a wildfire or a hurricane, the company said in a news release.

The company’s 31 locations nationwide serve more than 35% of U.S. hospitals, the news release said.

“We are seeing unprecedented demand as hospitals make sweeping changes to adapt to patients’ health care needs, streamlining processes and turning to smarter options to ensure they provide patients the best care possible,” US Med-Equip CEO Gurmit Singh Bhatia said.
