Ridgeland Pellet Co. LLC is investing $8.1 million in manufacturing operations in Jasper County expected to create 27 jobs in the next five years.

“We welcome Ridgeland Pellet Co. to our county’s industrial community,” Tom Johnson, Jasper County Council chairman, said in a statement. “Their investment and the new jobs will be a boon to our local economy.”

Ridgeland Pellet manufactures wood pellets used in home heating fuel, alternative industrial energy and equine bedding. CEO Charles Knight said the company will make biomass fuel pellets for export to European markets at the Jasper facility.

The company will renovate an existing facility at 579 Nimmer Turf Road in Ridgeland, with plans to add structures, machinery and equipment.

“We are excited about the nearby sawmills that will provide the necessary wood chips and other raw materials for our company,” Knight said.

Operations are expected to come online later this quarter. Hiring will begin around the same time. Interested applicants can contact CharlesKnight8@yahoo.com for more information.
