COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum will be open on Independence Day – and will offer special hours over the preceding weekend:

• OPEN 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 30 and July 1
• OPEN 1-5 p.m. Sunday, July 2
• CLOSED on Sunday
• OPEN 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday, the 4th.

The special hours coincide with the opening, on Friday the 30th, of a new exhibit featuring rare daguerreotype portraits of old men who in their youths had actually fought for the nation’s independence. It’s called “The Twilight of Revolutionaries and the Dawn of Photography,” and features 15 rare photographs of Revolutionary War veterans.
