A pair of public hearings scheduled this week to gather input on the use of Community Development Block Grant funding have been rescheduled for February to give Richland County residents more time to submit comments.

The federal funding will be used for community improvement initiatives. One public hearing will focus on the purchase of a new fire truck, while the other seeks feedback on flood recovery efforts, according to a news release from Richland County.

Originally scheduled for today, the hearings will now take place on Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. The 5:30 p.m. meeting will gather public comment on an amendment to the fiscal year 2019-2020 annual action plan to purchase a new firetruck for the Gadsden Station. The 6 p.m. meeting will focus on an amendment to the Richland County Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery plan published in August 2016.

To receive an invite to the Zoom meeting or to submit comments, email 19CDBGamendplancomments@richlandcountysc.gov.

Comments will be accepted beginning Friday through Feb. 24. Residents may also submit comments by mail to Richland County Government, Community Planning & Development Department, 2020 Hampton St., P.O. Box 192, Columbia, S.C., 29204, to the attention of Clayton Voignier.
