One Columbia for Arts & History, a community arts advocacy group, will play host to two town hall discussions centered on area arts programs and cultural resources as part of a partnership with the city of Columbia called “Amplify: A Cultural Plan for the Columbia Area.” Information from the meetings will help update the cultural element of the city’s comprehensive plan.

The first town hall meeting will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Eau Claire Print Building, located at 3907 Ensor Ave. The second will be held April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Richland Library Sandhills, located at 763 Fashion Drive.

The discussions will address questions such as whether the arts and cultural resources in Columbia affect regional growth, which community arts programs are exceptional and how the arts can help Columbia stand out as a creative city.

The town halls, along with other scheduled discussions with area historical and philanthropic organizations, will help the Amplify steering committee develop recommendations to strengthen regional arts and cultural programs.
