Students to participate in environmental competition

High school students from across the state will take part in an environmental competition on Friday at the Clemson University Sandhill Research and Education Center.

Envirothon is an annual problem-solving competition for S.C. students in grades 9-12 that aims to increase environmental awareness and promote environmental stewardship. Students will deliver oral presentations and be tested in categories including aquatics, forestry, soils and wildlife during the one-day competition.

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District in sponsoring teams from Westwood High in Richland County School District Two and from Spring Hill High in Lexington-Richland School District Five.

The competition will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 900 Clemson Road.
