The redesigned Richland Library Northeast will hold a grand reopening on Oct. 19 at 7490 Parkland Road. A celebration featuring music and a ribbon cutting will be held from 10 a.m. until noon.

The renovation was financed by a $59 million bond referendum passed by Richland County residents in November 2013.

Improvements to the Northeast location include spaces dedicated to technology and children’s reading areas, along with the latest books, music and movies. The library will also feature a new pickup window and a teaching kitchen.

The pickup window, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., began operating on Oct. 5.

Renovations have also included the installation of public art, including a map of the world sculpture by Columbia artist Clark Ellefson that wraps around a corner of the building.

The library will be open until 6 p.m. on Oct. 19.
