Gamecock football players to participate in Pigskin Poets

Listen to this articleFans of children’s literature and college football can combine those interests on Saturday during Richland Library’s annual Pigskin Poets program.
Presented on the library’s Facebook page, the event will feature former Gamecock quarterback and the football program’s director of player development Connor Shaw, along with current QBs Luke Doty and Jay Urich and defensive lineman Alex Huntley.
The program begins at 10:30 a.m.
Doty and Urich will read from children’s book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, while Huntley will read from My People, a picture book based on the Langston Hughes poem. Shaw will read from children’s book Yo! Yes?
The free event will be led by local storyteller and children’s literature advocate Darion McCloud.
