South Carolina will receive an additional $213 million in disaster relief funds to address flooding from Hurricane Joaquin in 2015 and Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

The funds are available from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery program, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. James Clyburn’s office. The money was included in supplemental disaster recovery funding passed in February following hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

“Many communities in South Carolina are still grappling with the effects of the devastating floods from 2015 and Hurricane Matthew’s impacts in 2016,” Clyburn said in a statement. “(The) announced funding will help these communities rebuild and better prepare for future disasters.”

The state of South Carolina will receive more than $157 million, while the city of Columbia will receive more than $18.5 million. Richland County will receive more than $21.8 million and Lexington $15.1 million.
