Registration is open for the 31st annual Five Points Chili Cook-Off, to be held Nov. 3 from noon till 6 p.m.

Entry fees are $25 for a reserved space, with cooks required to bring everything needed, or $170 for a full set-up with cooks only needing to bring ingredients.

Set-up starts at 7 a.m. with judge’s samples due by 1 p.m. Each team is required to make at least 15 gallons of chili.

A panel will decide winners in the categories of best overall chili, best vegetarian chili, best Texas style chili and best non-traditional chili. Bars and restaurants will compete in their own category, and teams will also compete for best set-up and the Tanneyhill’s Group Therapy Silver Spoon award for most funds raised.

Money raised through $1 donations for chili samples go toward Columbia youth charities Happy Wheels and Venture Crew. Happy Wheels supplies hospitalized children with new books and toys, while Venture Crew is an outdoor-oriented group focused on developing leadership skills.

The chili cook-off will feature music and entertainment for children, including a bounce house and face painting.
