The Columbia Fireflies minor league baseball team will hold a Fan Fest on Sunday at Segra Park in advance of April 4’s season opener.

Admission to the event, which begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m., is free. Fans can take behind-the-scenes ballpark tours and watch the Fireflies practice. The team store, the park’s kids zone and concession stands will be open. All concessions, including draft beer, will be half off.

Canine baseball fans are also welcome at the event and the Fireflies’ ticket office will be open, selling single game as well as full or partial season ticket packages. Season ticket purchasers can pick their seats from among available options.

Kids can run the bases post-practice.

The Fireflies will work out from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Players will then sign autographs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Fireflies’ park changed its name from Spirit Communications Park to Segra Park in January after a business merger.

“Our fourth season at Segra Park is upon us,” Fireflies team president John Katz said in a news release. “We are excited to welcome our community back to the ballpark to meet the team as we get things rolling with new promotions, new food and even more fun.”

The Fireflies, a Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, open the 2019 season on April 4 at 7:05 p.m. against the Charleston RiverDogs, a New York Yankees affiliate.
