Food product manufacturer McClancy Seasoning is investing $9.4 million to expand its Lancaster County operations in a move expected to create 108 jobs, more than doubling the company’s workforce.

Founded in 1947 as a manufacturer of spices for sausage makers, the company moved to Lancaster County in 1983. It produces a variety of seasonings as well as ready-to-prepare food products through its family-owned research and development center.

McClancy has two locations in Indian Land and is expanding operations at both facilities, according to a news release from S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster’s office. A 20,000-square-foot expansion is being added to the 1 Spice Road facility, while a 50,000-square-foot expansion is being added to the facility at 8746 Charlotte Highway. The expansions will allow the company to increase its production and distribution capabilities for fast food restaurants and food manufacturers as well as its private-label packaging.

“McClancy Seasoning is one of our long-standing manufacturers. Their commitment to invest in our community is welcome news,” Lancaster County Council Chair Steve Harper said in the release. “Over half the company’s employees reside in Lancaster County, and more job opportunities are on the way.”

The expansion is slated to be completed by September 2021, according to the release. Employment information is available online at http://www.mcclancy.com/contact.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Lancaster County Economic Development and the county council to support our growth and look forward to remaining a part of the community for years to come,” Reid Wilkerson, McClancy Seasoning president, said.
