A Charlotte-based investment group has purchased Hampton House, a 32-bedroom student housing facility on the University of South Carolina campus, for $2.1 million.

Brooks Owings, a senior associate and multifamily specialist at Wilson Kibler, represented the new owners, who plan to renovate the apartments at 1800 Senate St. and upgrade the common areas.

“The Hampton House provides an irreplaceable location in short walking distance to classes, dining, and shopping,” Owings said in a news release. “Even with the economic impact of COVID-19, there is a healthy demand for housing close to campus, and this property provides all larger one-bedroom units that are traditionally popular and will remain highly desirable for tenants throughout any sustained physical distancing season.”

Flex building sells for $1.6 million

A 63,200-square-foot industrial flex building at 131 Berkshire Drive in Columbia has sold for $1.60 million to USP Holdings LLC.

NAI Columbia’s John Gregory represented the seller, BTL Columbia School Building, in the transaction. Wilson Kibler’s Mike Edwards represented the buyer.

The four-acre property is a redevelopment site.

“It was a pleasure working with Mike Edwards of Wilson Kibler and I appreciate him bringing us the ideal buyer/user for this facility,” Gregory said in a news release.
