Floor & Decor to open first Midlands location

Atlanta-based Hendon Properties LLC has purchased a former car dealership on Fernandina Road for $3.22 million to develop into a specialty flooring retailer.

The 8.2-acre former site of the Hampton Pontiac-Buick-GMC-Jaguar dealership at 3700 Fernandina Road will be become the site of the Midlands’ first Floor & Decor location, according to a news release.

NAI Columbia’s Patrick Palmer, principal and director of retail services, and Bobby Balboni represented the seller, Hampton Automotive Inc., in the transaction.

“To secure an impressive new tenant to Columbia in the current environment is a testament to the potential that national retailers see in our market,” Palmer said in the release. “Floor & Decor’s presence will add significant value to the seller’s remaining property.”

The seller will retain 5.4 acres from the former dealership, which is being marketed by NAI Columbia for $3.3 million. Additional site work will be provided by Hendon Properties.

Floor & Decor, which has a location in Charleston, is projected to open its second S.C. store by the fourth quarter of 2021.
