Food delivery service to hire 200 drivers

Food delivery app Waitr has added Columbia restaurants in its latest round of expansions. To meet the anticipated demand, the company is expected to hire 200 people in the area. Drivers can apply here.

The app allows users to order from restaurants and have a driver deliver the food for a fee of $5. There is no minimum order and the app features color photos of all menu items.

“Having photos of all menu options is a big benefit,” company founder Chris Meaux said. “It gives customers confidence that their meal will be exactly what they want.”

In addition to Columbia, Waitr’s service is available in Greenville.

Columbia-area restaurants that have signed on with Waitr include:

Users create an account, then choose a participating restaurant, browse the menu, select items and submit the order. All payments are made by credit card.

Launched in 2015, Waitr is available on the web, on iPhone and Android devices.
