Four Richland County Library locations are serving as data collection stations for the Richland County Weather Information Network Data System. The stations, installed as part of a partnership with Richland County Emergency Services, are part of a county-wide network of more than 60 stations.
The stations were recently installed Richland Library Main at 1431 Assembly St.; Richland Library Northeast at 7490 Parkland Road; Richland Library Sandhills at 763 Fashion Drive; and Richland Library Southeast at 7421 Garners Ferry Road.
Information including temperature, humidity, wind speed, barometric pressure and rainfall amounts is available online 24 hours a day.
The Richland County network data system, known as RC WINDS, was unveiled in 2013 and is the first county-owned weather monitoring system in the nation, according to a news release from the library.
