Move over Greenville, there’s another Upstate city receiving national headlines. South Carolina’s capital city is also getting some love.

Southern Living Magazine has named Spartanburg and Columbia two of its “South’s Best Cities On The Rise 2024.” Not only did they make the list of 25, but they both appear in the top five.

Spartanburg ranks No. 3 on the list, while Columbia checks in at No. 5.

The publication touted Spartanburg’s appearance on U.S. News & World Report’s list of fastest-growing places from 2023-24, as well as its comprehensive plan “to aim for further success” and the $1 billion downtown development project featuring a minor league baseball stadium.
