Coronavirus concerns cancel St. Pat’s in Five Points
The 38th annual festival was set for March 21. The Five Points Association said in a news release that "postponing the festival was the only option.â€_x009d_ The festival attracts nearly 40,000 people annually.
USC/Clemson contest at Segra Park draws record crowd
The first contest between the in-state rivals played at the home of the Columbia Fireflies drew 8,986 fans and created an estimated economic impact of $326,709. The Gamecocks defeated the Tigers, 8-5, on Feb. 29.
Baseball fans can bid official farewell to Capital City Stadium

Iron Hill to open brewery in BullStreet District
Delaware-based Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant plans to open a location in Columbia's BullStreet District next year, adding to the area's rapid growth. This will be the 21st location for Iron Hill, founded in Newark, Del., in 1996.

Lake Murray makes Boating Magazine Top 10 list
The publication named the Midlands lake one of the nation's Top 10 Places to Live and Boat. The rankings considered factors including livability, public access and convenience. Lake Murray also made the list in 2011.
Tourism generates record $23.8 billion in S.C.
The S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism released 2018 totals of tourism business activity on Monday. The department said 2019 indicators suggest more growth in what would be the 7th straight year of record improvement.
Fireflies single-game tickets go on sale Thursday
Tickets can be purchased at the Segra Park box office, online or by phone. Fans who come to the box office between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday will receive a free hot dog. The Fireflies open the 2020 season on April 9.
Taste of Lake Murray to raise fireworks funds
The March 5 event will feature live music and food from 15 area restaurants. It will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton on Bush River Road. Tickets are $75 per person, with proceeds funding Lake Murray's July 4 fireworks celebration.
