David Ward Named Shareholder of Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, CPAs

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, P.A. (BPS) today announced that David Ward, CPA, has been named a shareholder in the firm effective January 1, 2024. The new role comes with expanded leadership responsibilities for the South Carolina-based, nationally recognized accounting and tax consultancy firm. BPS currently has 10 shareholders.

Ward joined BPS in 2006. In addition to directing BPS’ audit and assurance practice, he is a lead audit professional on BPS’ property and casualty insurance team, which includes regional and national commercial carriers, mutual insurers, captive insurance, reciprocals, and risk retention groups domiciled throughout the United States. This specialty practice area has been a significant driver of BPS’ growth in recent years.

In 2023, BPS was ranked in the top three Audit and Accountancy Services Firms by Captive Review, a leading online and print publisher covering the risk management and captive insurance communities. Each year, Captive Review showcases the specialized consultancy talent in the United States captive community, recognizing winners in 22 categories as the “gold standard.” Ward plays a key role in BPS’ success in the captive industry. He consults on a national basis with clients on the feasibility, formation, operations, and governance of captives. Ward is a member of captive insurance associations in South Carolina, North Carolina and Vermont.

Ward’s clientele also includes energy infrastructure, construction and distribution companies, as well as associations, non-profits and employee benefit plans. He provides guidance to clients on internal controls, best practices, and complex accounting matters.

A native of Lexington, South Carolina, Ward earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration-Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
