As it gears up for its October return, the S.C. State Fair is accepting entries for this year’s competitive exhibits.

Entries for exhibits showcasing the state’s finest examples of agriculture, arts, crafts, flowers and livestock will be accepted through Sept. 1, according to a news release from the state fair.

After offering to-go food and drive-through exhibits in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s largest annual event is set to return to the midway Oct. 13-24 at 1200 Rosewood Drive.

Exhibit entry information is available online at scstatefair.org/competitions.

“Our competitive events are a hallmark of our annual fair and showcase the amazing talents of South Carolina residents,” Nancy Smith, S.C. State Fair general manager and 2020 chair of the International Association of Fairs and Exhibitions, said in the release. “We are thrilled to bring people together again to celebrate South Carolina’s rich history while showcasing the best from local artisans and farmers alike.”

More than $300,000 is up for grabs for winning entries, according to the release.

The fair also offered drive-through food in April at the fairgrounds.

The S.C. State Fair, a charitable organization focused on preserving and promoting the state’s agricultural roots, awarded $300,000 in Ride of Your Life scholarships to 50 S.C. high school students this past year.
