The wait will soon be over in West Columbia.

Savage Craft Ale Works will open its doors in a long-awaited grand opening on Jan. 30. From 1 p.m. until 10 p.m., the brewery will be serving several varieties of beer and a selection of upscale appetizers while band Love and Theft entertains its inaugural customers.

The brewery has been in the works for more than two years and has weathered challenges including construction delays, supply chain disruptions and a global pandemic. Those thirsty for a new experience can toast the expansive two-story space featuring an outdoor beer garden and rooftop seating with a house-brewed hazy IPA, saison or cream ale, also available in nitro.

Munchies will include pepper bruschetta terrines, Nashville chicken, duck confit Dagwood, lobster roll and pork belly banh mi.

The 3,200-square-foot building at 430 Center St. has been a city hall, a fire station and a residential building since its 1925 construction.
